Terrorist elements against Pakistan,Afghanistan, US interest:Hina Rabbani Khar
NEW YORK: Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar said that Pakistan is fighting against terrorism to save its own interest. She was speaking to the media here after meeting with the foreign ministers of England, France and Italy.

While addressing a press conference, the foreign minister said that Pakistan will continue to favour the reconciliation process in Afghanistan and will continue to play its role as a neighboring country.

Khar described her meeting with the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as ‘very constructive’ and told that they had an extensive discussions on ‘all facets’ of US-Pakistan relations.

“It went very well,” Khar said after the three-and-half hour meeting.

The two top diplomats are in New York for the 66th session of the UN General Assembly. The foreign minister, in a brief interaction with reporters, also stressed the importance of ‘deeper understanding’ when her attention was drawn to points of differences between the two sides.

She also told that the foreign ministers of different countries agreed on helping the flood victims of Pakistan.

The Pakistan Foreign Minister said that there is complete convergence of interests in counterterrorism goals between Pakistan and the US. She said that terrorist elements are against the mutual interest of Pakistan, Afghanistan and the US.

Cement prices last year recorded 27pc rise

KARACHI: The average price of cement during the previous year recorded 27 percent surge, shooting per bag price beyond Rs400, Geo News reported.

Federal Bureau of Statistics said that the average price of cement, which was Rs321 per bag in September 2010, has soared beyond Rs410 per bag in September current year.

The statistics made available show that the lowest Karachi cement price pegged at Rs378 per bag, while in Quetta per bag price has swelled up to Rs450, as only in last it recorded a sharp rise by Rs14 per bag.

Analysts attributed cement price hikes to higher cost of production due to international surge in coal price and constant rise in electricity tariff within the country.
