Altaf slams slanderous cases against Hamid Mir
LONDON: MQM leader Alataf Hussain Sunday, in the strongest of words, condemned the filing of a case as well as issuance of non-bailable arrest warrants against Geo News senior anchorperson and columnist Hamid Mir.MQM leader, in a statement issued here, termed it a blatant attack on the freedom of expression. He demanded of the government to step in and had all such libelous cases dismissed.Earlier, according to media reports, Quetta Judicial Magistrate-III Muhammad Ibrahim Kakar issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Hamid Mir as well as the chairman of the group and editor-in-chief of daily Jung newspaper. The court had issued Mir s arrest warrant in a case filed by a senior lawyer of Balochistan, Khalid Khan.
