ECP introduces E-Ticket Service to
facilitate voters
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has introduced
E-Ticket Service under which voters can inquire about their constituency and
details of polling stations by sending an SMS on 8300. The official inauguration of the service is due today.
According to the ECP‚ voters could send their Computerized National Identity Card number on 8300 and in reply‚ the Election Commission will send them information including their block code, vote number, constituency number and place of polling station.
While talking to Geo News, Secretary ECP told that the new service will save time of the voters and Pakistan is the first country ever to introduce such service. He suggested the voters to inquire about the mentioned information so that they should not face any problem if the interior ministry resolves to suspend mobile phone service on election day, that is, May 11.
He also expected an increased turnout due to the E-Ticket facility.
According to the statistics provided by the ECP, 120 million people out of 180 million have the facility of mobile phones while there are 86.1 million registered voters in Pakistan.
